Congradulations to EM! The winner of my batt club contest! I will contact you about shipping to Canada.
Thank you to everyone who entered and spread the word.

Stay tuned for more contests to come!

I have been so busy with the new year. Started things off at the Winter Wool Fest in Wamego! It was a perfectly wonderful day. Weather was lovely and everyone came out from far and wide to this amazing celebration of all things fibery. I had a booth set up and I was so busy I forgot to take pictures till the end. My batts flew off the table! It is so much fun to be surrounded by people who understand the obsession.

I will be busy with family for the next two weeks. Kids have gym meets and the weather is changing. Currently snowing here for the first time this winter. Not a heavy snow thank goodness but the kids are very excited.
I have been enjoying my new loom and hope to be adding new curtains to my dining room soon!

I promise I will post new pics soon. TTFN!

Art Yarn!

When I started spinning 6years ago I was obsessed with spinning smooth, thin and consistent yarn. I learned to spin any weight from bulky to socks in 2ply, 3ply and even came to love navajo plying. I loved spinning, and spent most of my free time that wasn't processing fiber spinning with my many spindles or wheels. But there was something else to be done that I just had to try. Art yarn! When I found the beautiful textural treats that other spinners were making I fell in love. I started with thick and thin, after 6years of spinning thin, consistent yarns this was harder than one would think. The art of letting go had to be learned. I soon started adding more texture with curls, coils and locks. I taught myself to make coils and I was hooked. Then corespun became of of my favorite yarns very quickly, the freedom to create on a whim is intoxicating. I love my art yarns! Yes, you can knit or crochet them. You can make funky small projects like scarfs, hats and other accessories. You can add them to larger projects for added texture and special touches like trims or accents. And ofcourse you can roll them up in a bowl or hang over a hook just to display them! For the fibery addicted like me art yarns are a feast for all senses! Let go your sense of control and enjoy the pure fun and pleasure of art yarn!

Handdyed Yarns coming!

I just recieved a huge box of worsted and bulky yarns that I plan to dye over the next week. Starting out with Lana Loft 100% wool made in the USA! Then I have some luscious bulky Lambs Pride that is soft and fluffy. I have started reskeining them and I have happy hands! I cant wait to get out the dying pots.

I unusually have the evenings for all my fiber fun but with this Xmas thing coming all my time is been taken to decorating, shopping, parties, and other activities. I do enjoy the season but I am always happy to get back to my normal activites and my fiber. :) Even my spinning wheel is feeling neglected right now as I have been busy crocheting, weaving and wrapping.
Hope you and yours are having a great time! Happy Holidays everyone!

Happy Birthday Elysia!

Today my little girl is 15. Wow how did that happen? I remember when she was so little that her dress had to be folded over and pinned in the back so it wouldn't fall off. Now she wont get near a dress. Hoodies and trousers are her normal wear. But she is such a love. A friend to everyone and a little mom to her siblings.  She is an artist with paper and pen rather then with fiber like me but I can see the potential in her. She has a good head on her shoulders and we are so proud of the woman she is becoming. We love you darling. Happy Birthday and many happy returns.

Batt Club Contest!

Sunday is a day for family. I share my house with 4 kids ages 15,9,6 and 3, my husband I have been happily married with for 10years, Ozzy our rescued shitzu, Mia the fat calico cat, and 2 large goldfish. We are quite comfortable in our 2 story house with 1/2 acre lot in Topeka, Ks. I have lived lots of places but Kansas is home. I was born in Wichita although I don't remember it. My mother lived 2 miles away, handy for babysitting. lol
I am blessed to be able to stay home with my kids and homeschool them. We have great adventures and fun together every day. In my spare time I love to make fluffy things. I dye wool and other fibers, card them on my Fancy Kitty Kitten drum carder and spin them on my Majacraft Suzie Pro spinning wheel. I discovered spinning 6 years ago and now would rather be spinning then just about anything else.

I love sharing my fiber with everyone that is why I started Blushing Ewe on Etsy. I started with handdyed roving and yarn, now I make handcarded batts, handpulled roving, handdyed tops, handspun yarns and adding handdyed yarns soon. I also add some finished objects from time to time like handwoven bags and scarfs and crochet funky scarfs and hats from my art yarns.
